We hit Lake Sawyer Saturday afternoon mostly to run the cobwebs out of the boat. Weather was mid-fifties with clear skys above. We trolled along the shallows at the south end of the lake for about an hour looking for anything that might be up in the warming water without as much as a nibble. The 30 foot range was the only place we were marking any fish. A one eigth ounce jig with gulp minnow fished right on the bottom got me hooked up with a nice 16 inch cutthroat. Finally a pattern that seemed to work. These fish were only in a swath about 60 feet long and about 15 feet wide, but after several more drifts over this spot my son and I had caught and released a total of four cuts ranging from 14 1/2" to 16". The wind picked up and we couldn't maintain bottom contact so we called it a day. All in all a great day to be one of only a few boats out on the water!
