Ok, cuiousity got the best of me so I headed back to Blackman's Lake this evening. I went back to the "park" side of the lake and fished from the two docks again. This time I hooked two and missed two. The trout were in very shallow and that got me to thinking that they may have planted it recently, so I drove around to the boat launch side, and instantly could see fish rising. I started casting from shore and bang bang, one after another! Two guys were fishing from the dock so I stayed on shore. It was pouring rain, but too much fun to leave. All in all I caught and released close to 30....with about ten times that in bumps and misses....five went to the freezer.
I guess that answers the "planted" question?! As far as what to use?? Let's put it this way....at one point, if I caught a fish, I would change to a different spinner until I caught another one, then switch again....I would say I changed spinners about 15 times....so throw what you got and vary your retrieve and you will do fine. I did end up moving out onto the dock, and caught a few larger fish (11-12"), other than that just your typical pan fryers. Still fun to catch though.
