Had some buisiness to tend to in Moses Lake. So I dropped by the second Spillway out in the Dunes to check out the gates and the waterflow. A couple of guys from the West side were leaving skunked. One guy said that he had missed two fish though, so I decided to give it a try. I pitch cast a Rainbow Trout Storm Wildeye swimbait with no takers. I switched to a 1/4 oz. Riverside chartruse grub tipped with a crawler and on my second cast, a 17" male wally hit it. I got him to the net and slipped him into my mesh laundry bag that I use as a fish bag type basket. After another 1/2 hour of casting, I switched to a John B. Special colored Jerry's Tube jig. On my 3rd cast a fish picked it up, and I swung, but missed. I immediately pitched it back into the eddy and Tick! FISH ON! another nearly identical male walleye. The action slowed for another 45 minutes untill I had a pickup on a smoke salt and pepper 3' Kalin's grub. That fish felt BIG! She made several long runs up current, but unfortunately, after number of headshakes, the hook popped loose....I had enough fish to fillet for dinner, so I headed home. All in all, it wasn't such a bad day. One other guy had a similar fish. I'll be back in about a week or so. The Jigmiester

Hey nice report, too bad you neve got a look at the other fish. I am not sure where the second spill way is located. I only know about the fising on moses right there by the free way. I usually head to the seep lake potholes area when i go over there. Anyhow, how where you using the jigs, slow retrieve on the bottom> i always loose a lot a gear that way, stay safe out there.

Bazzdude. Normally a lift drop lift drop technigue works for me on walleye. but on this day, a slow steady retrieve, with a couple of twitches did seem to entice a bite. The big fish hit it on the drop.... theres a sandune ledge out there that I can see in low water . it drops from 5ft into about 8' of of water. Sometimes the Eye's are stacked up on that thing too. I switch jig colors a lot at times. Bass pro shops used to make these watermelon/ smoke livin' eye grubs. Back in the day, they were the stuff! All you have to if you are coming west into Moses on I-90, is take the Conoco exit and follow it around towards the State Patrol office to Sandunes road. You'll pass some nice houses, then the road turns to gravel and you'll drive another mile or so south till you pass a 1st spillway, then the second. I was fishing on the down stream South side of the second spill. There are huge bass caught out there in the warmer months too. Thanks bro. The Jigmiester

Kalous1. I hit the Alder street fill by walmart every April for the Walleye run on Moses Lake. The day I was there, water was flowing but it was still down a bit. I caught my biggest walleye there, in November of 06' -a beautiful fish, 33" and pushing 14 lbs! She picked up a 3 &1/2 " tube jig on the south side of the bridge in only 3 ft of water. I had her mounted to. The taxidermist said she was full of young bass and crappie, cause in fall they eat a lot in preparation for winter. I'm gonna hit it good during the middle of April, espeacially just before the full moon. You can catch some sows then! The Jigmiester

If you fishing around the alder street fill or the highway 17 train tressel be sure you pinch your barbs as it is single barb less only until the end of May. Also, it is appreciated if you catch and release in that area as that is the spawning ground and the walleye population has gone from 40% two years ago to 15% in the creel survey last fall. Let's try to help preserve the fisher for years to come.
Thanks,

C
