Braved the elements and fished Samm today from 11:30-15:30 looking for perch. The wind was outragous; everytime I marked fish or found a promising spot and tried to anchor up, I got blown off the spot within minutes. I did manage to hook and land the only 3 bites I had; 7", 8 1/2", 7 1/2". Threw 'em all back. Water temp was 43.2 - 45.1. Fish were caught in 45-60 feet of water.
On the "HOTSPOT" map, there is an area with 2 flags (2 fish caught); that area has a large drop off next to the "no wake bouys", but like I said, I couldn't stay anchored because of the wind. There was a large concentration of fish on slope of that drop off in 55 feet of water.

What is your favorite bait for perch?

The day of this report I was using a 1/16 or 1/8 oz jig tipped with worm and some liquid scent. I also use maggots and will frequently use perch, crappie, or sunfish meat.
