well me and a couple buddies went out fishin at margaret maybe for the last time before the season ends. It was perfect conditions glass, no wind and clear blue sky. The left side of the boat launch is where the fish are. I caught 4 and my other to buddies caught 4 and 6, so 14. Also something pretty random happened, it was getting a little darker and we were on our way back in when i got another hit, reeled it up and there was a smallmouth bass! anyways a good time fishin.

Hummm, a smallmouth bass in Lake Margaret? I have caught several largemouth from that lake but never knew there were smallmouth there. Anyway, nice catch. Sounds like a good time on the water.

Yeah,

kind of doubt it was a smallmouth. People mix these fish up all the time, and some of the smaller largies (like the first year guys that are fattening up right now) can tend to look like smallies especially later in the evening. I grew up on that lake, and unless someone illegally stocked it THIS year with smallies, I doubt it.

I had a guy show me his "smallmouth" and I had to tell him it was a yellow perch at this very lake. I have a degree in fisheries and know he was wrong. You may have caught a smallmouth, there are a lot of "midnight stockers" out there.

well if it wasn't a smallmouth, it was definately a baby largemout, which was why i was confused, it was 100% a bass, and definately no perch. So thanks for lettin me know there aren't smallmouth in there.
