Started fishing about 1:00pm. The water temperature on the surface was 68 degrees and the water was clear. There was a 5-10 mph s.w. wind and the temperature was 74 degrees and partly cloudy.
Since the lake is rather shallow at 13 feet, I used a floating fly line and wine colored wooly leech. I received many small hits and was able to hook and release about five rainbows. All fished were of average size of 10-12" and appeared to be quite healthy.
Very few fish were marked on the fish finder. This could be because of the depth of the water due to the smaller sonar cone, but I do think that the overall population of the lake is down compared to previous years. I am wondering if the regulations of catch and release only after June 1 are be paid attention to. Hopefully next year the lake will be a bit more productive.
