I had the itch to fish, so I went down to Lake Union for the SMB. I fished from about 6:30 til 8:45 pm. I caught and released 3 small mouth bass. The biggest was at about 1 lb, the other two were a bit smaller. I was fishing mostly crankbaits in red/orange colors. The fish hit on those. I did fish a senko for awhile, but no luck with that. Naturally I lost one of my favorite crainkbaits, I do that every time I come here. There was no one else fishing. Minimal boat traffic, and only 1 rat spotted. I just hate rats. There is a fair amount of algae growth right now, obviously considering it's Aug.
But it wasn't really that bad, I've just never seen any here before, for those of you who know where I fish on lake union. (-:
It was a decent night out.

Lots of red in that eye. Is that a bigger rock bass?

I've got a lot of rock bass from Bitter lake, and I don't think it looked like them. I def. know what you mean though about the red eyes in rock bass, maybe my camera has bad color judgement or maybe he had just been indulging when I caught him.

"Minimal boat traffic, and only 1 rat spotted. I just hate rats" That's hilarious, man. I hate rats, too. I guess you see them more often than I do, fishing from shore in an urban environment. The cigarette butts surrounding the fish on the ground in your photo is also hilarious.

SWJ,

As an after thought, when I looked at the photo, I know it looks like that fish got a little harshed out lying in the dirt and all,, but I can say he was fresh as a daisy when he went back into the water. (-:

The first pic is a good one, but learn to hold a bass by the jaw, it will harm them less. The second pic in my opinion is just not neccesary. We got enough from the first pic, and don't need any dirty bass in the lake ;) Joking around a little bit with ya. Good fish, glad it was released.

Chrisb, yeah, the second photo was actually of another fish.. but like I said, upon looking at the photo I felt kinda bad that it was lying in cigarette butts and fouled with dirt, I kinda wish I could delete it from the report. But I know that it was clean as a whistle upon going back in the water. Thanks also for the tip on holding the fish from the jaw, I'll remember that.
