Had a nice day on the lake. I started out trolling around with a few different colors of blue foxes and mepps. I didn't get a single bite doing that. I noticed on my finder that all the fish were hanging out at the very bottom. Since it was a hot day (85?) it made sense. So I gave up on trolling and started plopping a worm threaded on the line and a little led to take it down. Then I started getting bites. Around the shore I mostly got little guys, I'm not even sure what they were maybe pike of some sort? Ugly things that would chomp down and hold on. I didn't hook most of them, but I caught several. They seemed to just hold on with their mouth. It was kinda funny. A couple times I pulled them in to release them, and as soon as I grabbed them, they just spit the worm and hook right out. Another time I caught two at once. One had swallowed the hook and the other was just holding on to my fishing line around some worm. I gave up around shore since that was all I was getting. So I moved out deeper, dropped my worm down and just drifted around. Doing that I caught a couple of decent 10" trout. There is something huge in that lake, I don't know what but I saw a big swirl in the water, and thought maybe it was just a wave or something but it seemed weird. Then a minute or so later I heard a huge ker-splash. I thought maybe someone threw a huge boulder in the water, but no-one was around. Then later it happened again. I never got a good look at what it was, but something really big. I checked the WDFW planting report and they did put in several 6 and 10 pound broodstock back in January, so maybe it was one of those. There were some girls who floated by on a raft and they said they actually saw it too and said it was huge, so I know I'm not crazy. Surprisingly it was not hanging out deep like the trout, it was pretty close to shore in fairly shallow water.
