Our annual week-long Chelan trip was amazing once again. The fishing was pretty good, but hanging out and relaxing with the family was even better.
We fished for smallies a few mornings and a couple of evenings, and caught some decent fish. The 2 in the photos were 2lbs 8oz and 2lbs 12oz (Mrs. Magler caught the biggest one of course). Most were caught on drop-shotted plastics and others on cranks. Although, the most fun was when they would hit my topwater lure in 25ft of water! One morning there was a stonefly hatch going on, and the smallies were attacking them like crazy. I was wishing I'd brought my fly rod.
The water was so clear you could see the fish on the bottom in 35ft of water. We also caught a few squawfish which was actually kinda fun when they'd hit the topwater lures. The water temperature (surface) ranged from 68 to 72. Most of the fish were caught in 25-30ft of water, and all were C&R'd.
We also fished Roses and Wapato Lake for largies while we were there. I'll post separate reports for those trips.
