Eloika was not very kind to us in June. Nothing like last year was. We went out 3 times and got 6 perch each time in 3-4 hours of fishing. Slow was an understatement. We hadn't even been back in 4 weeks. Last year at this time we were catching lots of nice crappie, so tonight we decided to try again and break the curse.
We got there at 5pm. We tried a couple spots and in 2 1/2 hours had exactly 1 bite. We watched 5 osprey circling and diving into the lake. They were catching fish, but we weren't. As the sun got low I FINALLY landed a fish. A nice 10+ inch crappie. Another 20 mins passed and Sammi got one in the boat. And a minute later I got a bass. The bite was on! By dark we had 14 crappies, 2 bass and a big catfish in the boat. We kept 6 of the crappies and the bass for dinner [all 9 1/2 to 12"] and let the rest go.
Our curse has been broken. Eloika likes us again ! :D
