Launched at some trailer court with a 5 dollar launch fee...what a rip off, the public launch in closed due to construction.
Took off across the lake to where a bunch of friends from the good ole' A and A where having a picnic - scooped up a buddy of mine and headed off to get some lures wet.
We fished in about 10 feet of water, using chartreuse jogs tipped with bits of worms (really expensive ones bought at the 5 dollar boat launch) My buddy was from NC and hadn't been fishing in awhile, but wanted to bring a bunch of fish home for a later fish fry.
Knowing we could tear into some 'gills relatively easily, I scouted the shoreline for their nests next to the weeds in about 5 or 6 feet of water, headed out a few feet deeper and started casting.
Had success with and without floats.
Ended up catching a mess of gills, 4 nice sized perch, and 3 crappie in the 9 inch range.
All fish retained (except for the small gills) Fished from about 4-6pm.
