Just got back from our 3-day trip to silver lake. I got there on Sunday and the bass tourney was in progress. The first day was real rough covered allot of water and no fish. Once the tourney was over I started catching fish. The water was very stained. Ended up catching pretty much dinks the whole trip with the exception of a few 2 pounders, but I didn't have my camera with me for my better fish but the fish in the pics are what I was catching allot of. I had one good 7 pounder take a swipe at my popper and missed. I went back to that spot 3 different times and never saw that fish again. I lost one 4 pounder at the boat!
The wife and kids had fun they caught crappie, perch, bluegill, a few bass, and some catfish.
Successful baits were topwater popper and buzzbait in the morning and evening and in the afternoon it was gary yammamoto flippin hawg, and pig and jig for structure and crankbaits on the rocks. Lost allot of crankbaits but the key was to get the crankbaits deep enough to tick on the rocks.
Got to try my new tube out didn't know how good it will be with my bass boat but it turned out good and was pretty fun. Ohhh, the look on a 6 year old's face when they are scared and having fun at the same time. Ended finding a stranded family with a dead battery so we gave them a jump.
All in all, it was a good trip and worth the drive. My only complaint is there is just way too much lilly pad growth. I highly recommend the motel resort for families, my family loved fishing off the back porch.
