I took a Monday off for once and headed to Fan Lake. It has been a month since I last visited.

The surface temp was 70°, a light wind from the South and it was about 68° at 6:45am when I loaded in.

I headed to the narrows that connect the upper part of the lake to the main body. There is a good drop-off there that usually holds the trout this time of year. On the way across the lake I hooked one 15" trout on a Stayner Ducktail.

Once I got the the narrows I began to work from the shallows to the deeper sections with the Stayners at about 15' of depth. This worked well with 3 fish to net in the next hour. One was 21" and fat the others were at least 14". When that bite stopped I took some temperature readings and found that the water was in the low 60's at about 20'. My finder was showing pockets of fish at that depth sitting in the slot on the West side of the lake. After no success for about an hour I got 3 more fish with a black/silver Ice Cream Cone fished vertically in about 25' of water. Another 20+ incher as well.

I caught one more on my way back to the launch in the middle of the lake on the Stayner again.

All in all a pretty good day on the water at Fan.

Tight Lines,
