Fished Medical from 12:30 to 3:00. Hot, sunny and bright, surface water temp 77. Took my little used 8-weight loaded with type VI sinking line and 2X tippet so I could land and release fish as quickly as possible. Headed to the deep water (30-35 ft) adjacent to and slightly south of the rocks on the north end. Fish finder show few fish while heading there but showed all kinds of fish in water exceeding 30 feet. Chironomids, mayflies, damsels and dragon flies all present. Initially got a few pulls but no hookups on a black leech. Switched to a weighted dragon fly nymph and began getting solid takes. Three browns and two rainbows to net and two other rainbows lost. A half dozen other strikes missed. Also the cleanest tench I've ever caught....it didn't slime anything at all! The 8-weight plan worked great with the browns but Medicals' rainbows were not impressed! They are still very strong and fought extremely well. Dragging them in quickly was not an option. One large rainbow, pushing 24", finally and thankfully came unbuttoned on its third trip to the boat. All in all, a great fishing trip considering the weather, water temp and month.
