Hey folks, this is a past dated report more for info than recent events. I grew up near Pierre lake and fished it nearly everyday with my brother. I can offer several tips and tricks that have limited us every time I visit there on leave( military) first off Pierre is a small lake 150-200 acres not sure but small. the best bet for bass is on the northern side opposite the creek there are tons of lily pads and log structures to fish. also a beaver dam half way between the boat launch and the end of the lake near a farm. the bass are not huge here, but reports of only one or two fish in this lake are uncalled for because I have never walked away with less than 8-10 (released) as they are on average small and more worth catching than eating. another cool spot is on the southern side of the lake along the road there are several logs trailing into the water these logs hold schooling crappie and 20-30 fish are not uncommon when they are hiding there, try docks if they are not!
. (these are harder to fish, as they are private docks and landowners can get upset if you are not respectful) ALWAYS avoid tying up regardless of how good the fishing is without asking. kokanee can also be caught here trolling in the middle of the lake although I have only caught a few. the last good spot is directly across from the swimming hole. there used to be a rope swing i think it is gone now dang hulligans :) anyhow there is a large mountain and the bank along this side of the lake is phenomenal with spinnerbaits in the late evening for bass . for the crappie, I always used a hares ear nymph in a size 12-14. also there are reports of bullhead catfish in the evening? never caught one but they say their there. also a good friend caught a huge bass several years ago out of here and got his picture in the paper for it (small town) I think it was 6-8 pounds nice fish for northeastern Washington. good luck, if all else fails drop by barstow and ask Kent where the walleyes are hitting at.
