something woke me up at 4:30am and I decided it would be a great time to go hit a lake. It came down to Horseshoe or Williams but I didn't feel like the long drive so I went to Horseshoe...I should have went to Williams. I got there around 6:30am and I was using worms and tried them with both types of marshmellows I had (garlic & regular) and every powerbait I had...and alone. There was another guy down the bank from me who was already there and he hadn't got a bite either. After he left I watched some pansized bass chase some fingerlings near shore so I tied on a small black & white spoon and caught one of them. It was about 8" and I retained it. I walked around the corner where it was more shallow and had some small lily pads. There was a lot of bluegill mostly of fingerling size or smaller, a couple hand size (I have small hands btw). I also saw a couple nice bass but no matter what I threw out there they weren't interested...though I don't have a ton of bass lures and its pretty shallow, maybe a 1-1.5 feet deep. I went back to my spot and saw a good sized tench swimming about 10 feet from shore which I caught on the next cast. It was a good 12-13" and fought hard....and was later made into bird food. A group of people showed up and fished down from me. It was about 10:30 now and I was very hot and sweaty and thirsty....forgot to drink the water I brought. So I called it a day and got into the car and kicked on the AC......later in my wife's minivan the temp said 94 degrees around 3pm. At about this time I started not feeling well and crashed in my father in law's armchair for a couple hours....now I feel like I have the flu....yuck....just hope its not something I caught from work like the neisseria meningitidis I was exposed to nearly two weeks ago.....I think maybe its just heat exhaustion......i don't tolerate heat well......
