Spent 4 days at Spectacle Lake this week. Easy limits of 12-14 inch rainbows on power bait and also trolling wedding rings and other spinners.

Also landed lots of bass up to 2 pounds and a few sunfish. The weird thing is this lake was poisoned just a few years ago and it already has lots of bass and sunfish in there. I've seen this cycle repeated many times now. Bass and sunfish get thick and hinder the trout population. WDFW kills off the lake and re-plants trout. 2-3 years later the lake is again full of spiny rays.

Does anyone know what is going on? Amateur biologists doing the bucket stocking? The killing of the lake doesn't actually kill all the spiny rays?

It is the locals pissed with the WDFW killing off good bass, just for trout fishing. So they restock it with bass on their own.

Growing up as a kid, I have some of my fondest memories catching trout AND bass at this lake. When I heard they poisoned the lake years ago to clear out the bass, it was a sad day.

Now that my son is 5, I am excited to know that he too, can have some fond memories of catching both species in this lake.

Glad they are back, no offense.

Tight lines!!
