Because I worked evening shift the night before, I got a late start since I had to pack everything up. I left Deer Park about 11:30 and got to the lake around 12:30. I would have made it there sooner but I missed the last turn. To get here you head out from Chewelah north on HWY 395, then turn right onto Sand Canyon Road. You stay on this road all the way past the end of pavement until you come up to a large campground which has the very last restroom before the lake. This campground is mostly unimproved with one restroom, a couple picnic tables, and man made fire rings. This place was once the site of Bingville, WA....I only know this from Google Earth. Phillips Lake Road is not too far from here, in fact it is only about halfway around the campground on your left. Turn left onto this road and drive it until you've gone around two approx. 180 degree turns....sorry I didn't check the mileage. If you notice the marker it will be NFD 120. You will turn right and go up a short hill. If you see a Big Game restriction this is not the correct round, turn around, head back to way you came and turn on the very next road. If you come to a pole fence you are on the right path and will be to the lake shortly. I have a ton of photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ruthven78/sets/72157605800494294/

I was really wishing I had my fish finder on this trip.....I will get that put on tomorrow if it kills me!
