My son and I arrived at Silver lake on Friday evening after a 200+ mile drive from Eastern Oregon. We fished a few hours on Friday, all day Saturday and about 4 hours Sunday morning. We really enjoyed the lake but the fishing for tigers was extremely slow for us. We threw spinner baits, bucktails, and glide baits mostly and in the end only had one fish follow on Saturday. The wind made it tough on Friday and Sunday but even so we did a whole bunch of fishing and just couldn't seem to get anything to happen. I caught one bass on a spinner bait and had a number of others follow. I also had one very large bass maybe 6 or more pounds follow a glide bait in. We did talk to a couple guys on Saturday that had caught three tigers in the 30 inch range but a chat with several other musky anglers over the wknd found that their luck was about the same as ours.

Having fished Silver just this one time left me thinking that the quality holding areas of Silver are probably getting fished quite hard. Some areas with classic muskie habitat literally had a boat on them every hour of the day. This isn't to say there aren't places to fish, lots of great looking shoreline habitat but the areas that really look perfect are definitely getting fished hard. Overall, I had a great time at the lake and have no doubt there are some good fish to be had, particularly if you live close to the lake and have an opportunity to fish it often.

Good luck to others.

Well the problem with Silver right now is the lack of the normal weed beds in most areas of the lake. I fish Silver a lot and have found that things have been a little different this year and the muskie are keying on certain structure more than some other stuff. Another large problem is that they are being targeted A LOT more this year than last. A lot more pressure on them has changed things a little too. They can be a frustrating fish but when you finally get one its worth it.
