Fished bitter lake tonight from my float tube. This is lake is my go-to hitter for easy to catch simple rock bass. I put in at the park, and slow dragged a worm under a bobber along the entire shoreline of the lake, along the pads etc. The fish were not as consistent as they were in about July last year, (at that time it was non stop fish) but I did catch about 6 within about 20 minutes right off of the reeds located on the far side of the lake. I should have mentioned that these are rock bass, and at this time they are EXTREMELY small, like 5" but they are surprisingly aggressive. By about Sept. last summer they had come up to about 10" There were some shore fisherman arriving as I left, but otherwise just me. Didn't have any luck throwing some crainkbaits, but after seeing the rock bass.... my crainkbaits were nearly as big.

Are there any large mouth in that lake? I've tried fishing the SW edge of the lake with cranks and spinners, but no luck...

I am sure there are no LMB in Bitter....I think it's all rock bass. (at least I am told that by a few guys who more "Bassers" than I am. But if you read the lake reports, you will see photos of people who have pulled out 4+ pound fish, so, i have to assume these are smb.

I stand corrected... the larger bass coming out of here are LMB, def. not smallies.
