BEST. DAY. EVER. I hit the lake around 2, nice warm day. I met fishingmachine by coincidence on the water, and we teamed up and hit every lily pad, stump, gravel patch, fallen tree and point known to man for some bass. For the next few hours, fishingmachine killed me in the catch ratio about 5:1 (but only because of his stupid worms, which I have now officially declared cheating). Then, he pulled up a 5 pounder out from under a deep dock (which, out of jealousy, is now the reason I have declared nightcrawlers cheating). Fishingmachine had to go around 8, but I had an hour left. I putzed around but couldn't hit any fish to save my life. I think I got maybe 5 or 6 fish all day, all but one under a foot long. Five minutes before I had to go, I drove the boat over to a place where he and I had seen about a 2 pound bass earlier in the day but failed to catch. As soon as I got there, I saw ripples in the water. I threw my green pumpkin lizard at them and I instantly had a fish on. After a five minute fight (and thousands of close calls with the lilies), I got the fish close enough to see it. It was definitely not the two pounder. It was another bass like fishingmachine's, a monster. I netted it myself, and measured it to have a 18 inch length, 12.5 inch girth, and a 5 pound 3 ounce weight.
It was a great way to end the day.
P.S. all fish including the five pounders were released.
