Got off work early and decided to hit Beaver with my BIL. Got started about 5pm and trolled up the lake with a red flatfish and a rainbow Rapala. Hooked a nice stocker on the Rapala about half way up the North side running pretty deep. Some hits on the red flatfish near the surface. Swapped out to a silver Rapala and had a hit, then nothing. My BIL swapped out to a larger silver/blue flatfish and caught a couple and had a few more hits. I wasn't getting any more action, so I switched to a gold Panther Martin....immediately got a strike....then nothing else. About 7:30 we switched to wedding ring with nightcrawler combos and had some hits on the way back to the launch and landed one. Not a lot of action, but enough to keep us interested and the sun made it pleasant. Trolled very slow, just enough to keep things spinning. The algae is starting to take off and there was a lot of cottonwood fluff all over the lake....imagine that is the way it is most places right now. It would gum up the first eye of my pole. Minor annoyance. Most of the hits I had came from the deep section of the lake (middle/north side).
Maybe five boats on the lake. Some bass fishing, some trolling and a couple just sitting still. A few people fishing at the park. Called it a day at 8pm. Not trips or holdovers, but a good time.
