Hit he lake at 6pm. light wind, clear day. I didn't get water temp but it was mid 60's outside. Started fishing for crappie with jigs and worms. Caught a few and a couple of little bass. Rowed just east of the boat launch past the toolies. I changed it up and cast a plug- about 10 inches off the shoreline with a quick retrieve and bam! Angry bucket mouth on the other end of my ultralight w/4lb test. Good fighter, even tailwalked for me. No scale but he was around 5 lbs and pretty. Took a quick pic and let him go back to his bed. Got a few more bites but after dusk nothing. Fun day.

Any size to the crappie? I haven't fished Eloika since college. Nice fish.

Thanks. No size to any of the other fish caght that day but I did see a guy off the dock with a whole stringer of hand size crappie. Said he was using a white crappie jig. I did catch a plate size out at Newman- no pic though.

Great catch, girl! How is your hunt going for the water wolves. Mike and I were out to Silver two weeks ago and we spotted three big ones. Couldn't convince them to strike though. Mike did land a very nice LM though.

Keep in touch. We would like to meet you out at Silver someday soon.

To Marc- I'm going out to Silver on Monday, hopefully getting my first, thanks and keep ontrying with the fly fishing. I can't wait for the pic of the one you bring in on the flyrod. How much fun will that be??? :)

To BobM: With all respect and I appreciate the compliment but this is a site about fishing, not match.com. Happy fishing.

To Kevinb- I was happy to see you had a great time fishing in our hood.... We have a hidden gem in Silver apparently- did you see the posts on bass that are coming out of here?? I can't wait to go.

To Mattbass: If I don't catch a muskie on Monday I won't be leaving without one of those killer bass I've been hearing about- I'll make sure to take the camera!

To crappiemaster: Until last week I just looked at crappie as little bait stealers, haha. But after that plate sized at Newman, my biggest by far, I am hooked.. I hear they are really good on the north CDA string tributaries/lakes. Is that true?

Sorry..,one other thing. I don't suppose you saw any pickerel? You know..the baby of the pike family.

Interesting you would ask Kevinb- I didn't but my friend went a week or two ago and said that he caught the smallest pike he has ever seen. He described it to one of the locals and they said it was a grass pike. He said it was 8-9 inches long. Pickerel. I've heard of that.... When he told me I didn't even think of that and thought it must be a planter. hmmm.

Its pretty much a "baby" pike, they don't grow very large but they still have the ego of their bigger cousins. I've been trying to obtain one "legally" for my fish tank.
Take care and get over to Silver!!!haha I fell in love with that lake.

I have heard there are plenty at North CD, but size isn't that good. I love to fish for them in the backwaters of the big rivers, the Snake and Columbia and the big ones I have found in lakes are at Potholes, Moses, and Sprague. Slabking has some monsters on the westside. They are hard to find, the big girls, that's what I love about them. Gonna be hard to fish for them when I start walleye fishing though. Let me know if you find them anywhere, I love a good plate of crappie!!
