Living locally I had gone first to Ohop to chase some panfish but my favorite spots were crowded so I decided to run down to Alder to do some fish exploring. Had read reports about the bass and perch in the lake but didn't expect much with all of the snow melt mixing very cold water with warmer spring water temps. Parked near one of the county parks and climbed down to the bank to check things out.

Found the shore clogged up with lots of flood debris and the usual stumps submerged. So tossed a jig with a worm towards the weedline and BAM !!! Had my jig and worm snapped off instantly by a large fish. Using ultralight line for panfish didn't help matters but it was obviously a decent bass. So I retied and started to broadcast cast along the shore targeting weedlines and stumps. Had many hits and saw lots of nice 2-3 pound bass cruising the flooded grass. But the big surprise came a bit later when i watched a nice bass cruise past a sunken culvert. I tossed in a couple spare worms to see what stirred and up from the murky water came several large crappie. I dropped my jig and had several come to investigate but they were short striking (could see them flair their mouths but not enough to inhale the jig). Made a mental note to return after the cold front passed to try again (at dusk).

Have heard of the success casting spinner baits and will do so tomorrow evening. Promise to post again with some of my experiences. Expect to use heavier line and really work the flooded grass.
