I went to American with my dad and son (Cole, 3). We got to the lake @ 6:30 and started trolling. We were using wedding rings behind a 4/0 chrome dodger. One rod had green the other one red. Right off the bat the green wedding ring gets a fish, it was a nice 14" Kokanee. The downrigger was set down to 20'. Nothing else happened for about 45 minutes. We made it over to the north end of the Island and started trolling towards the VA Hospital. About half way from the island and the Hospital both rods go off. We lost both of those fish as they were doing displays of arobatics. We had pretty consistent action for about 45 minutes. We could have landed a lot more fish, but my son all week has been saying " I want to go fishing, but you no help me". So in an effort to help him do this we lost a lot of fish in the process. That is totally fine for me though, the look on his face was worth it. The last fish came while i was lowering the downrigger, i thought that somehow the line released itself, but all of a sudden there was a fish behind our boat jumping around.

We did catch one more thing. We had the downrigger balls set to 45' in about 75 feet of water. The downrigger ball stopped like it was on the group. Somehow we hooked up to a rope in the water column. I had to hand pull up the downrigger cable and attached was a yellow rope. It was about 50' long and attached was a 15 pound anchor. At least there is one less snag in the lake now.

All in all it was a great day with my dad and son. Look forward to getting back out there again. If you are on the lake and see a drift boat set up with downriggers, say hello.
