My fishin buddy and I got a late start at 11:30 am right smack in the middle of the brightest time of the day.Fishing was really slow. Most people fishing with bait and not catching a thing. We caught only 2 fish around 12-13 inch range on a size 4 black pearl Glass Shad Rap during this time,so we took a couple hour break around 3:30 pm and came back for the evening bite which is always phenomenal here and it didn't let us down.I love to hit this lake right before the sun sets when the fish start rising sipping bugs off the top.I slip on a Diawa SC Shiner jerkbait in the Rainbow Fry pattern, and these fish just absolutely smack the crap out of it.The only problem this time is I kept losing them. They hit it real hard then come flying out of the water doing all sorts of acrobatic maneuvers and 9 times out of 10 spit the hook. I changed the rear hook with a bigger treble to try to better the situation and it did a little.Probably should have replaced the lower hook too.The fish in the evening were a little bigger. We kept 2 at 14 and 18 inches,Very bright fat silvery trout.real hard fighters.Biggest fish took about 10 minutes to land because everytime I brought him to the net he'd shoot under the boat like a missile not to mention he was jumping about 5 ft. out of the water constantly all the way in.I Think I'll pack my fly rod and my camera on the next trip.
