Wow, got out of Mason county and read some reports and bingo, thanks for the tips from Pine. Had a least 50 bites, landed 30 fish on a plain black bugger size 12. Sink tip line was the key, slow troll. fished from 12 noon till 3:30. fish were 9-12 inches and really good fighters. fish of the day was a beautiful 14" CT. all fish were released.... thanks for the tips guys My partner landed another 18 fish and we had at least 7-8 doubleheaders...

To my knowledge there are no CT's in Pine Lake. That lake is on fire right now though and you can troll just about anything and hook up! Good report! Glad to hear the tips paid off and you C&R'd your fish on flies...the only way to go on these lowland lakes. Nice job and tight lines - we're out to Rattlesnake tomorrow!

...oh and forgot to add thanks for C&R'ing your fish...I believe this is what is keeping the fishery going strong right now. If people just took their limit there would be very few fish left later in the month. I'm so glad to hear C&R. Fly fish only baby! I love it and I'm so glad you ripped in to them. Kudos again!

Sounds good flyguy. Will do. I wonder if Pine Lake has cutties in it? Can anyone confirm this? That's new to me! Rattle should be fun...

I dont think it has cutties in it. I have caught some rainbow with the same red gill marks you are talking about though.

If it has red gill marks it is a cutthroat never seen them on rbt!! Before you say it is not possible review your stocking reports for a few years back!!

Pine has never had cutts put in it legally. However, illegal planting could have always taken place. If it did, this fish species proliferates at an alarming rate, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit...

Reviewed it and no cutthroats stocked ever bro. You might want to check stocking a few years back before you tell someone else to. Also, FYI , rainbows do tend to get some red around the gills when they are spawning. But to answer the question at hand no cutts at Pine

All I can say is....... that fish was not even close to being similar to all those 10-13" stockers..... wish I had my camera, it was the best fish of the day... well, at least we can keep our eyes open for possible CT....

I believe you man. I've had the same thing happen. All the fish look the same except one. I will keep my eyes open though.
