Explored Stan Coffin Lake by boat for the first time. Success was minimal. I hooked and lost one small bass on a small jig/grub combo. We did see a couple of nice fish in 3 to 5 feet of water ranging from 2 to 4 pounds in size. The bigger bass were very spooky. A slow rolled spinnerbait almost sent one into cardiac arrest and the small jigs we slowly swam past them just caused them to turn and swim the other way.

We also saw a couple of schools of small panfish but weren't really going after them.

If you fish here - remember that bass fishing is catch and release only.

Not a bad destination - kind of pretty and it's definitely not crowded compared to nearby Burke and Quincy Lakes, where the bulk of the anglers go for trout. When we went here on Saturday afternoon, there was only one other boat on the entire lake.
