DIlbert and I went to Tapps to avoid the silver fish fisher people this morning. The lake was flat and very uncrowded at launch, I even braved the B.O.D. to launch from Bonney Lake. We hit up our usual locations to try and get our first fish of the year, for me it would be the first in my boat! Hit the water about 5:45, started fishing right away, and each had two in the boat within a few short hours! Dilbert's first went under 3 and small, and practically gold. He started singing the Goldfish cracker theme song, because he loves the fishes, cause they are so delicious! I finally caught my double firsts for the year, at a bit over 3 pounds, and the size of a toddler. He lost a fish at the boat trying to tournament style lift it in to the boat, must have been 5+ pounds, but then aren't all the ones that got away :) we each caught another, his over 3 and mine in the 2's. Attached are pictures for visual proof, please excuse the size medium shirt I am wearing, I was out drinking last night and dressed in the dark this morning.

P.S.- As a side note, when you feel your line and say "Man, the last fish chewed this line up really bad. I'll change it after the next fish" , Karma will donkey kick you and make you loose a fish boat side.

Water temp was 47-50 degrees most places on the lake. After the first fish I checked my line made some comment like "yeah, it's a little nicked by the knot, but not too bad.... I'm sure I’ll regret this, but I'll risk it” Sure enough, the next fish was energetic and large. I pulled his head up slightly above the surface, thought about boat flipping him, reached down to grab him instead, and snap… off he swam. Next time I’m re tying first and yelling “Net!”

I also had a smallish muskie grab one of my jigs I threw under a dock. I wasn’t sure what was going on and I could see all kinds of movement under the surface. He threw the hook and then followed the jig back to the boat to size us up. He watched us for a little bit and then swam back under the dock.

I heard from a reliable source that you resorted to having your trusty companion back the boat down the ramp.
