Stopped by Interlake Islands for about 20 min on my way in to work. Had what appeared to be a smallie take a short whack at my spinner but that was it on my end. However, I do have some disturbing news. Talked to a guy who was braggin bout catchin some muskies this year and he showed me the one he had caught earlier which was mutilated in the brush. He says they are no good to eat and that they are trash fish and him and his buddies kill everyone they catch. The one I saw was only about 33" or so. I reminded him of the law and the ethics of sport fishing and corrected him on their table fare, usefullness to the lake, economy and the muskie hunting community. He still disagreed and let me know that everything he catches dies reguardless of species. I'm not claiming responsibility but he did fall into the water. (Damn, karma's a bitch) So with that said, watch for dead muskies in that area as those are his main targets. Since this is a report forum I would have to say that Interlake Islands may be a little slower fishin for now.

Dude! That's horrible! Is that legal? Pretty funny about falling into the water, I hope he got hypothermia.

I think if you report him you have to have proof. So yeah next time you see that guy, if he wastes his catch definently get some proof and report that. That is inhumane.

We seen a dead musky over by allan york today when my son and I went out. It's belly was gutted and there was a stick shoved down its's throat. Huh I wonder if it is from the same dumb @#*. I really hate stupid people.

Hey keith, if it was around 33" or so, that was the one cause Interlake Island is right there by Allen York Park. The one I saw had his belly cut and a stick in it. As far as reporting him to WDFW goes, a ticket comes and goes right away with no lasting effect, but the humiliation I handed him in front of his wife and buddy will have a much longer effect on him than a ticket. I forgot to put in my initial report that according to the look on his face when he resurfaced, the water temp was approx. 48 degrees. LOL

That is disturbing news Captn, you got to get a camera and trick the douche' into a photo op then tell em' you could report him. Or say you saw a warden handing out tix the day before or something like that...Same problem with the russians on the North side snagging fish..that sucks. I believe thats illegal harvesting or something like that. If its not howling and 40 degrees i'll be out there..stupid people do suck!!

Please report any and all suspicious muskie deaths to WDFW. I have already found one dead 2 weeks ago. This was the second one in two days. I've contacted WDFW and they now have officers monitoring Lake Tapps. As always, try to get vehicle plate numbers and etc.

Thanks for the report. Its sad that people do this crap.
Good looking out.

I think I did the trick when he "fell" into the lake. before I allowed him to come out of the water, I made it known that there are many more people out there like me and the next guy may not be as "nice" as me. I don't like involving our money hungry state if I don't have to. Where I ran into him is his main fishin hole on the lake and I will be there very often on my way to work to both fish and keep an eye out. Not tryin to sound like a vigilanty or anything but I grew up on the lake and have fished it hard for 30 years and kinda take a sense of ownership on it to protect it. Just keep your eyes on that area when you all are out fishin. He now knows he will be watched.

Capt. the messed up thing about it is my son is the one who found it. That is not the way I wanted him to see his first musky in person. And that was the correct water temp when I left 48 degrees lol.

I'll watch him myself and take some photos.

Yes, Kev, I do mind. If I wanted to go through the hassle I would have contacted them myself. Just watch for a blue mini van and a guy in his 40's around 5'6" with a beard and a short spinnin rod. Gotta go now and get to work and deal with drunk people all night.

There's no hassle, just tell them what you know. I'm sorry we don't see eye to eye on the "How?" but I'm sure we can agree these guys need to go.

I'm not trying to get 'ya worked up but as law enforement or fire fighter personel. It is our civic duty to report these activities.
We both enjoy muskie fishing and it pisses me off when we have guys out there slaughtering our passion.
Sorry for stepping on your toes but I want this guy and all other low lifes like him caught.

I do commend you for informing him of the moral and state laws he is breaking. I still think that a ticket would hinder his ways more. If he is under the impression you live in that area and are keeping an eye on him, he may just choose to fish elsewhere. If reported, he would have the paranoia that no matter where he fishes, a Warden who may be aware of his practices, may come strolling up.

Damn , that's appalling. About 2 weeks ago I posted a picture my little girl standing in front of a 44 inch dead muskie that washed up against my boat lift. Didn't notice any major trauma but it could have been bonked.

I agree with you guys on the fact that there needs to be reprecussions. Without admitting to anything I'll come right out and let you know that he hit the water a lot harder than just a simple fall would impose if you know what I mean. Do you guys all remember when we were growin up and pain was our best teacher? Once again I will re-iterate that the humiliation and the pain he suffered in front of his wife and buddy will have a much longer lasting effect than a ticket will. I guess I'm just old school and was brought up differently than most who live here now. Anyway, on a better note, my trip to the Kalama was cancelled so I am headed up th Tapps now to see if the cold weather turned the bite off or not. Might see some of you guys up there.
