After last year's success at this time last year, decided that it was once again time to visit this lake. Decided to launch from the southern launch and found the wind blowing briskly from the south. It also appeared to me that the lake volume was slightly lower than it was at this same time last year. Since this lake is one of our favorites to fish, we have always released all the fish that we catch so that this lake will always remain a "Quality" lake.

Once on the water, my wife opted to start fishing with a flatfish (single hook) while I decided to use a sinking flyline trolling a Black Wooly Bugger. Going around the small island off the launch area the wife immediately takes hard strike and after a nice battle we release a fish just shy 20 inches. Contining on, as we crossed the front of the large island, I hook up with a 22 inch fish. Back in the water, trollimg just a short distance and again I hook up with a 20 inch fish. All this action occurred within the first hour on the lake and then breakfast was over for the next 3 hours. We painted alot of fish on our fish finder however there seemed to be no interest in our presentations. About noon, my wife decided that she wanted to get a bite to eat so as we headed back to the launch, she gets a hard strike from a fish which was just under 23 inches.
After lunch I decided to head back out and as I got to the large island the brisk wind turned into a mild gale. After a bit of rocking and rolling, I decided to head back to the launch and immediately hooked up with 2 fish, a 23 & 21 incher. Thinking I had found the secret, I continued trolling for the next 2 hours without success. I decided to change my fly to a egg-sucking leech and after casting the fly out the surface immeadiately erupts and my pole takes a savage bend. After a short savage battle, the rod goes slack and I find that the fly is gone. Trying another fly, it once again seemed the dinner bell went silent so decided to call it quits about 3:30.

All total, we had caught 7 NICE fish for 7 1/2 hours of fishing. It appeared the water temperature (55 degrees according to the fish finder) definitely had the fish battling hard but wasn't certain if it also played a part in the slower action.
