Well, the boys wanted to get out for their first boat trip today. I waited as long as I could and hid from the rain until it was unbearable. We tried to launch at North Tapps, but ran into two guys in a small aluminium Lund who were ran off the lake with high winds and white caps. We drove by Alan Yorke and they talked me into launching. We shot out to the main lake, marked some fish and nice drops and shelves that I had never noticed before. The wind was blowing me around so fishing without protection was difficult. We ended up at the old standby fishing hole, and bumped into a few guys from another website. Good to know that I'm not the only crazy one on the lake. Not much time for fishing, spent plenty of time stuffing snacks into little grubby child hands. They got to go fast in the boat, go slow in the boat, throw a lure here and there, get rained on, catch some sunbreaks, and jump some rough water. Any way you look at it, I got to spend some quality time with my little guys.

I'm impressed that you took them out even though the weather was yukky for kids especially and they liked it. Looks like they were having a great time out with Dad. Did you put the seat belt on the front seat yourself? I've never seen one on a boat but it makes sense when you have kids. Great, informative report about fishing with kids and also about the lake.

I used to take my son all lot. He was young enough that I took a diaper bag. Used to put a belt around him when he sat in the pedestal seat just to be safe. The time together can't be traded for anything. Wish I"d done more of it when they got older but you know how that goes.

Is that a practice weight on the boy's rod? You'll have to give him something with a hook if you want him to catch a fish. I promise I won't laugh (too much) when he catches one and you get skunked.
