took my new jon boat to boren today to test it out, tried bass fishing for about four hours on the east and north side of the lake with no hits. we were mostly tossing cranks, spinnerbaits, and jigs. the water is still to cold but i was hoping for a early bite. on the north shore there's a small creek that feeds the lake, i was tossing cranks into it and caught this trout. 13 inches, i would have released it but it had a treble hook deep in its head and was bleeding pretty good. so i took it home and ate it. very nice pink fillets. its common to catch trout on cranks there while bass fishing. in a few weeks i will hopefully be posting the first bass post.

Nice fish!

BTW were you fishing off a dock, (the dock off Coal Creek Pkwy) across from the park on Friday afternoon (yesterday approx 3:00-4:00?). It looked like that fellow hooked something near the pads and lost it. Was wearing a blue parka/coat also.

yup that was me. i was using the same crankbait then. i would like to think it was a bass but probably another trout. it was good sized though. dont know how he shook me i wasnt pulling hard and i was letting him take the drag, let the pole and drag do all the work and it still came off.
