Fished from 13:00 to 17:00. Used 1/64 ounce jig yellow body white tail tipped with a perch eye. Had a great time once I got them figured out. Caught numerous perch and one small bass though the ice. The best fishing was after 15:30. The bite is so light that a Shy Bite or Mini-Shy Bite bobber is needed to detect strikes. See the picture of the jig and a Mini-Shy Bite bobber. The hardest part is getting that first fish for its eye.

Try an ice buster slip bobber setup, with those you dont need to thread the line through a bobber, much easier to use, and they can be trimmed to any specific weight.

Nope, the little perch are pretty tough to keep off on some lakes. Other than larger baits, your stuck catching them.

if you try useing a regular hook. not the lead head then put that yellow skirt on it will give a much more natural look and a lot more action. but will sink alot slower but it doubled if not tripled my catch rate.

Hey Matt. I am the old fart with the 8 inch auger that fished near you last Sunday (Feb 3rd). Terry's friends - the one that sold you the 6" auger. For those rarely caught bigger trout, cut two holes next to each other and about 1 inche overlapping... that will get the big ones through. I only caught one of those big ones a few years back. I did not much care for the texture of the meat. They are OLD... beyond their prime. Really slimy fish. Smaller ones are much better eating or smoking.

Just logged back in after a couple years. Seems they lost or did not transfer my old account to this new forum. Was out again today but fishing was much slower. But always get a few out there.
