Knowing the weather was going to turn sour almost changed my mind about fishing today, but fortunately I stuck to my guns and went anyway. I usually have bad luck this time of year, but today I must have held my lip just right. The fish are definitely going deep and the bite is very light. When the flurries started to fall the fish shut off like a light switch. I usually practice catch and release on all bass, well cause daddy said so if anyone is wondering why. Unfortunately I had to let a buddy of mine show that old method of Catch and Grease (LOL). I had a fizzer for pulling fish up from deeper water but I can't seem to find it does anyone have any advise were I can get another one? Well until next time CATCH ONE FOR ME !

What's a fizzer?

A hollow needle that you poke a bass in the side or down the mouth to "fizz" it. If you dont let the air out of its bladder so it can swim back down it will float on the surface and die.

Try your closest vet clinic. That's where I pick up my fresh supplys, they are always willing to help out.

Hmm. I've never had to deal with them because I mostly fish for largemouth in shallow water. Should I do this with trout from deep water?

Not necessary for trout. There was a topic posted by fishinislife about how to fizz put up early in the spring. This is a great time for everybody that is fishing for smallies to review. Nearly every smallie caught for the next 3-4 months will need to be fizzed.

just to let you know fizzin a fish is not recommended by the dept of fish and game.and poping the thing that comes out of the mouth is punchuring the stomach which looks and seems to work at the time but the fish eventually dies . You have to realease the gas in the swimm bladder or the the body cavity if the swimm bladder burst.
