hey everybody-

we got a chance to go to rock lake yesterday (Sunday) with great hopes of the legendary brown trout- the water was lower than the last time i was out there back in July- but we managed to get the boat launched- we first started jiggin for bass around the first set of cliffs on the eastern shore- buddy landed 2 , and lost one at the boat- then we decided to troll for the trout- we trolled for about an hour with no luck at all- later in the day- with green wedding rings - we landed 2 nice size rainbows- and we called it quits at about 2:00 in the afternoon- not a bad day for fishing- however- if you have never been to rock lake-- let me take this time to say that it is called rock lake for a reason- long story short- we were cruisin down the lake at about 16 mph-- depth read 162 -170 feet- we were bout 40 yrds off the eastern shoreline bout a mile and down the lake- and we hit a rock- the depth reader now read 1 foot- and it was not fun
i have read all the reports bout shallow water and rocks- and i thought that by looking on the topo map here on this site we were in clear deep water- but we hit- and now the boat is done til i get a new prop and a hydraulic reservoir for the trim-
it was ugly- but we got to shore just fine and headed home-

the fishin was good- the broke boat- was not so good! the wife had to tell me- " you were on a lake called ROCK lake and hauling a#$ down the middle- and you're surprised ya hit a ROCK??"" so yeah- I'm now grounded from rock lake

have fun - be safe- and be careful!! i don't wish this broke boat burden on anybody-
dave
