I fished all day and got skunked. I dragged a few flies around, deep, shallow, fast, slow. Nothing worked. I hooked on big fish and fought with it for a couple minutes before he shook loose. I tried various nymph patterns as well a W. bugger and leech in various colors, sinking line and sinking tip later. I was leaving when a nice guy I had a chat with earlier gave me a lesson. He showed me a secret pattern called "bionic worm", a midge larvae imitation. He was fishing it shallow, under a strike indicator, with floating line. He was cleaning up! I saw him hook and land 5 or 6 just as I trolled past him on the way in. I guess I have forgotten how fish with a floating line. I better bone up! I'll be back!
