I want to take this time to thanks the people at Liars' Cove resort. Myself and three other friends took our annual fishing trip there this past weekend.
Upon checking in I ask Nita where the best fishing was. Nita, owner of Liars' said it's good all over the reservoir.
She went on to say the dam has been producing a lot of big ones. So off to the dam we headed. About twenty minutes into fishing, my first pass by the dam, fishing with a wedding ring & worm (I might add my fishing partner and I had already pickup three or four fish each) I had the big strike. My fishing pole bent over like a horse shoe. I thought it was going to brake. I carefully lifted it out of the fishing holder and set the hook, and the fight was on. That fish would not come up it fought like big old King Salmon, sounding many times. Finally I got the fish to the surface. I look at my friend and we both said that's a really big fish. Well, that big old fish took a few more runs, and after a couple attempts of trying to put it into the net, we finally landed it.
We fish for a couple more hours releasing about 20 more fish ranging from 12 to 20 inches. When we finished I took that big old trophy back to Liars' to get weighed. That slab came in at 7 lb. 4 oz. I might add that is the biggest trout I have ever caught.
The next day we decided to try the Conconully Lake. On this day I decided to pull a fly (Black Woolly) on 6 lb. test line and 4 lb. test leader. Low and behold I pickup another big fish, only this one weighed 5 lb. 7oz. Nothing like getting a big one on a fly. The last day of our three day trip, we were catching and releasing fish as fast as you can put your line in the water. About half way through the day my fishing partner pickup his big fish it was over 5 lb. He was using light tackle with a wedding ring & worm combination.
This trip has been one of the best are group has been on. We have had are annual fish trip for the past ten years.
I will be looking forward to be returning to Liars've where the fish are plentiful and large.
Thank you again Conconully chain for letting up a couple trophies.
