hey everybody-
So my son and i headed out to west medical lake in hopes to land a few trout- my son loves bottom fishing and has caught 100 or so blue gill- so i thought he'd get a kick outta something bigger. So trout was the target- the kind that bite- lol it started slow- caught 3 pumpkin seeds- then nothin- no bites at all for bout 30 minutes -- so we trolled the legendary wedding ring configuration all over the lake with no luck- so we settled on the west shore bout half way down -- and boom had hit on the yellow orange powerbait- 13 inch bow- had to keep em cuz of the hook placement - it was ugly- we then picked a buddy of mine- and Keith showed us another spot in the general area- my son then landed a fairly nice 15 inch bow- and he wanted trout that night- so we kept him as well- between the 3 of us- we brought bout 10 fish to the boat- (the rest released) as the sun dropped- the fish were surface feeding on everything- a first for me was watchin a trout completely jump out the water at something- so we went with top water spinners etc- over all- despite the green crap in floatin everywhere in the lake- it was a great night on the boat with my son and friend-
we did clean and grill up the trout with butter and lemon @ about 930- and i had read the report earlier bout a funny taste to the fish from w. med- i don't eat much trout - but it tasted pretty damn good- not musty or anything- but again i don't normally eat trout- anyway- it was a great night --
