Took my son out in the canoe for the first time this week end. He had never shown any interest in fishing before so I jumped at the chance to show him a good time. We got to Lacamas/Round Lake and all the spots I had been fishing were now dry land! They had dropped the lake about four feet, one of the fellows there said they do that after Labor Day every year. Well, we went in search of new spots and found some! All we caught were small crappie and perch, but he had a blast catching the first fish...and the second fish, I finally did catch some too. We had to go in early because it was my 23rd wedding anniversary and I had promised the wife o' my life that I would be home in time to take her out to dinner and a movie. When we got back to the dock we had to wait for about 30 minutes for this fellow to get his big new boat launched. So my son jumps out of the canoe and says he is going to fish off the dock. With all the activity I think he will be disappointed, but with just a few casts he gets another crappie. What a great time we had. BTW we were using the "Trout Magnet" and "E-Z Floats" from Lelund Lures, wow they are so effective. I really do not think there are any trout to speak of in Round Lake, but they really killed them crappie.

yea there are a select few trout in round but they are either fished out or when the mil-foil starts growing bad they go to deeper water in lacamas or in some cases they get sucked down the damn and find there way into the washougal or the Colombian, i have heard we get a few steelhead come up the stream towards the damn but i never proved it. i think i might try it someday there are some nice trails all the way down that stream.
