I was on Offut from 6 pm until dark (maybe 8:15). I started out trolling for trout, but after 20 minutes of no bites I thought better and decided to go for bass. I couldn't keep the dinks off my hook, but nothing of size. I fished the shoreline on the undeveloped side across from the dock. I used a bunch of different crankbaits and a brown Rapala popper. The popper was a lot of fun, sometimes two dinks would go for it at once. Right before dark you'd get at least one dink bite a cast, but sometimes three or four if you didn't hook them.
And although I didn't do very well it seems some others did. I overheard one gentleman in a boat yelling to a guy on the docks about his success drifting marshmallows and nightcrawlers for trout. He said he had three average sized trout and a "really respectable" one. Two really nice guys in a really nice Lund that I crossed paths with said they caught a 5-pound bass the day before, and lost one roughly the same size today. I think they were using some kind of freakbait soft plastics (at least two curly-tails on them). Great day on the lake! Gotta love the 5 mph speed limit; keeps it nice and peaceful.
