Went to Battleground for a weekend of camping and fishing with the family,..about 8 of us. We stayed for a total of 3 nights and 2 days. Arrived on 8-16-2007 and hit the lake early in the a.m with my nephew Billy. The lake is beautiful, serene and very calm and deep,..very , very clear too. People,... we threw the kitchen sink at this little lake and to no avail. We tried spinners, cranks, top water , bottom, worms, powerbait, from rapalas to plastic worms, frogs, even free floating! There were fish jumping everywhere but we couldn't land one. Stayed out for about 4 hrs. then headed back to camp. When my oldest Josiah arrived with his girlfriend we went at it again, that was Sat 8-18-07,..again we hit the lake at the butt-crack of dawn and set out determined to get some bass and trout. We started to troll across the lake using wedding rings and worms and didn't get 1 single hit. Then we tried for some bass. Fallen logs everywhere so I'm thinking "bass". I tied on my favorite spinner and went hard at it,....nothing. Finally got tired and tried for some trout. I did have one follow as I retrieved my rapala but i was coming in to fast and he went back down. I heard this was a great lake to fish,...camping was awesome but the fishing was terrible,..will I be back? To camp,...yes! And of course I'll bring my little 14 footer,..so yes "fish I will". P.S I would've hit Mose Lake and the Potholes but alas we were too late for the camp sights so Battleground it was. Next year,...Moses/Potholes!!!!
