I'm housesitting a place right on the lake off of East Lake Samish Road. I went east along the shore, trying to stay in 15 - 25 feet of water trolling a white spinnerbait and a White and Blue Rattle Trap. Got nothin' except a little perch. I'm using a canoe, and I have a crappy little portable fish finder for finding depth. Anyone who can help me out with locations, presentations, colours, techniques, etc, that work on Lake Samish for largies or smallies I'd appreciate it. How does a guy find the fabled "rocky humps" upon which all the lunkers are supposedly holding? I've seen a few big boulders jutting out of the depths, and plenty of tree trunks too, but no rocky humps. I saw a couple nice looking bass, but like I said hooked nothing. Any tips would be appreciated.
