I had the chance to do about 45 minutes of fishing for smallmouth bass this past Friday before a meeting downtown so I thought I'd check out a spot on Lake Union that I have eyed for awhile. I think it is at the lake's south end.
I started with a T-rigged 3" senko and about tiny bullet weight (curado d/clarus rod) and after about 15 minutes I was surprised to see what struck my bait.
It is the biggest perch I have caught to date and I've only caught two ever.
I then headed off to the SPU area and was able to catch my intended quarry. After about the same amount of time, I managed to hook into a little smallie with the drop shot (spinning rapala rod/reel).
Well, it was better than nothing but it was a good way to start the day. Anyway, I guess it is a good thing that fish can still be had from the shore.
