We launched a little before 9 am and started fishing on the east side across from the launch. We had never been there before and all we had to go on was a lake map and a few tips we read here. We started fishing using a drop shot set up with a minnow jig tipped with a worm in about 25 feet of water. Landed 2 bass of about 9 and 11 inches in the first 20 minutes. We worked our way north along the east shore and eventually around the entire lake. We caught a few more fish using the drop shot rig by casting towards the shore and working it out. through out the day. Sammi switched to her favorite bobber and jig set up and caught fish that way too. We hooked 18-20 in all. The catch was bass, perch, bluegills and pumpkin seeds. Aside from the first 2 bass, the rest were all under 6 inches. Most would of made nice bait or aquarium fish. Other fisherman seemed to be having similar results.
The lake has a decent launch, a 5 mph speed limit and some very interesting topography and scenery. The underwater topography is equally interesting and definitely has some good fishing potential for big fish, but today just wasn't the day. it was an enjoyable trip and we will be back again in the fall and give it another try when the weather has cooled some.
