7/11/2007 2:26:00 PMSkin the trout and the mud line is visible about 1/2 way down from the back - it is sort of an off-white color, trim this out and there should be no muddy taste I recall it saying. I have not done this myself - I have only experienced the muddy taste towards the end of the fishing season and with the larger fish.
I BBQ'd these with Lemon, Garlic & Butter and didn't taste anything unusual.
