Spent the morning on the pier at Pine Lake, and while I gave the fishing only a "3" ranking, that is strictly due to the fact that I didn't catch anything. It wasn't for a lack of fun, though. A kid that was getting a little antsy while fishing with his dad started roaming around the dock and suddenly screamed that he spotted "a huge bass" right off the dock, in the swimming area. His dad and I checked it out and didn't see anything, but I was having no luck as it was, so I went ahead and dropped my line in to see if anything was in fact under there. Sure enough after about five minutes two "huge bass" came swimming from under the dock, went right past my lure without flinching, and into some weeds about eight feet out.
Along with the kid who originally spotted 'em, and his dad, I spent the next two and half hours trying to land one of them, but they just wouldn't take the bait. We were casting out and landing our lines right in front of them, and they would simply ignore them. We all switched up baits and lures, and tried jigging, slow reeling, and just letting the line sit still, and nothing worked. I guess they don't get to grow that big by being foolish enough to get caught.
Around 11:30 the park was really starting to fill up, and people were starting to swim in the swim area, and the splashing/noise scared the fish away, so we gave up, but I'll be going back for them, they can count on it.
