We fished the canal on duck lake all weekend. We started off fishing from a private dock on Friday night, we caught a small perch and used him for bait and caught a 13" perch. Then we caught an 18" bass and an 11" crappie, we fished until about midnight. The second day we went out in the boat and found a school of crappie under a bridge, we caught a crappie on every cast, but only about a quarter of them were above the 9" minimum size. We also caught a bunch of nice perch and bass. We tried for trout but went w/o a bite all weekend. We heard they just removed all the weeds from the canal, so there were no weeds at all. The best bait was a floating rapala in brook trout pattern, a white jig w/ 1/16 oz jig head, and a yellow and white jig w/ a 1/32 oz head, but just about every jig worked and a worm and bobber caught the biggest bass of the weekend. When it was all said and done we caught an 18", 17", 16" and a 13" bass and a bunch of small guys, 20 - 25 9"+ crappie and at least a 100 small ones, 12 - 14 12"+ perch. The perch were unbelievable, I have never seen this many big perch, the biggest was 15".
