Oh my Gosh!
This was the best fishing lake I have ever been on. Not only did I catch my first smallmouth bass, I easily crushed my record for largemouth and biggest fish ever (a carp hooked on wheat thins!) We fished from a boat on north side of steamboat and around devil's lake, also just east of the tip of steamboat, there are some coves, reeds, and flats that were on fire with smallies and largemouth. Tons and tons of bites and fish. We were tossing texas rigged 4 or 5 inch yamamota purple grubs toward the rocks, letting it sit for a few seconds, then slowly reeling. Can't miss with this technique. Friday night, to sunday afternoon we caught 1 rainbow, two carp (one was HUGE), around 40 smallies, and 6 largemouth (three over four pounds!) I usually don't catch this many in a year over here in western wa.
We stayed at coulee playland, OK site, but we only slept there. The baitshop was super helpful and steered us in the right direction for colors, etc.
