Went down to Riffe to do a little camping and fishing over the weekend. We arrived at the lake around 4PM Friday afternoon. My wife and I decided to put the boat in the water so I could get a little fishing time in before we set up camp. We had some friends that were going to join us at the camp site a little later in the evening.
The weather was nice. A little cloud cover, no wind and the water temp was 58 degrees. I knew if I didn't get some fishing time in Friday evening I might not be able to fish at all with the weatherman predicting lots of rain and wind on Saturday. I was right the rain and wind did come on Saturday, a real soaker!
So, I motored over to the dam and started trolling a small white Hot Spot with a small pink hoochie in hopes of catching some of the landlocked salmon in the lake. I trolled around for a couple of hours without a single hit. I was marking fish on the fishfinder between 70 and 100 feet. Of course, I didn't bring my downriggers because I thought I would not need them. Mental note for next time: Bring the downriggers!
